CLOTRIMAZOLUM

The medicine is administered in mycotic skin inflammations resulting from infections, caused by dermatophytes, Phycomytetes, dimorphic fungi, yeast infection of the skin and mucous membrane (candidiasis) and in pityriasis versicolor.

Characterized by a wide spectrum of activity, inhibiting development of most pathogenic fungi causing skin infections in people. In small concentrations, it has fungistatic action, in large concentrations fugicidal action. Clotrimazol inhibits biosynthesis of ergosterole, which is indispensable for building the cell membrane of the fungi. It disrupts the functioning of the membrane and increases its patency. As a result, the mycotic cell components are damaged and eventually degraded.
