Production development

Throughout the company’s development, we have gradually modernised
modernised our production plants and laboratories, emphasizing the quality of the manufactured
products. Much of what we did was also determined by
economic changes in Poland.

Beginnings of Hasco-Lek S.A.

After the change of political system, private manufacturers were admitted to produce medicines, thanks to which we were able to graduate from making making cosmetics to manufacturing medicinal products. We made our first products, such as the still popular Tussipini.

The turn of 1994 is when we started manufacturing ointments. The number of employees was increasing, new laboratories were created, more and more products were being registered.

The next milestone was in 1997, where a part of production was moved to ul. Żmigrodzka to the newly built production and warehousing facility. It was equipped with a state-of-the-art extraction line, syrup manufacture and packaging equipment. The plant was much ahead of its contemporary building standards and production equipment. Additional space allowed us to create new production departments, warehouses and laboratories.

GMP Certification

An important milestone was obtaining a GMP certificate in 2000. We successfully underwent our first audit conducted by foreign foreign institutions and were issued a positive recommendation for manufacturing. This enabled us to start large-scale cooperation with foreign partners from EU countries.

We applied for and were granted this and other quality certificates even though it was not yet legally required. We would undertake optional actions with regard to implementing and certification of research quality assurance systems, our medical device quality management system, food safety management or foreign supplier auditing.

Start of tablet and gelatin capsule production

One of the most important breakthroughs for the company’s development was when we started manufacturing tablets in 2001. We purchased state-of-the-art machinery and opened a new packaging line for capsules and tablets. As a result, we were able to further expand our portfolio.

Another momentous event was launching the production of soft gelatin
capsules using the matrix method as the first pharmaceutical company in Poland.The method ensured production repeatability and resulted in a high-quality product. This innovation enabled the encapsulation of nearly anything, not only oil-based suspensions and solutions, but also other, not oil-based suspensions and solutions, too. This is how, for instance, the antihistamine Loratan came to be. We were the first in history to encapsulate loratadine in a soft capsule. We quickly became the Polish leader in the manufacture of capsules. This also resulted in the opportunity to enter foreign markets.

Siechnice plant

Opening a new plant in Siechnice near Wrocław was an enormous challenge.
This enterprise involved moving our entire liquid form production from the plant
at st. Żmigrodzka. To do this, we had to implement and synchronise many solutions
and processes, including product registration changes due to the new location of their manufacture Since 2010, we have been making medicinal syrups, suspensions,
powders and ointments in Siechnice. This plant obtained a GMP Certificate, too.
The investment also resulted in stable employment for many people living in
the Siechnice commune and in the neighbouring area.

High quality culture

Our company is made and managed by pharmacists. They are the source of our concern and care for the quality and for maintaining the highest standard of products. This is the reason why each and every one is carefully tested, ensuring it is effective and safe for patients. Our products – including food supplements – are manufactured according to pharmaceutical standards. The awareness of all regulations and procedures concerning the manufacture of these products is very high among our employees. Moreover, we have always been characterised by continuous quality development, in which we are aided by our very well equipped laboratories and highly specialised and committed staff.

Our high quality culture is always noted by partners, auditors and equipment providers. Visiting our plants, they always notice the the employees’ extraordinary attention to the production environment. Quality complaints are nearly unheard of.
